About us

Mark Busby has been actively involved in the funeral profession for 34 years. Beginning when he was 21 years old Mark started his career by washing the funeral cars, driving and performing general funeral duties for the Hawarden based independent Funeral Director Mr Oscar 'Ockie' Ellis. From there he quickly mastered the business and was mentored by Funeral Director Mr George Mason; the experience and knowledge George shared with Mark has proved invaluable to him during his long career.

When the company was taken over by a large national organisation, Mark was promoted to Funeral Director and then to Funeral Manager, having full responsibility for seven offices in the local and surrounding area.

Mark has continued to work locally and further afield and has been involved in many repatriations to various countries.

After working in the Care Industry Tracy Kane started her journey in the funeral profession 17 years ago, working for the same national funeral services organisation as Mark. Tracy’s first position was as a Funeral Arranger which she held for nearly three years before being promoted to Funeral Director. During this period, Tracy managed two offices in Deeside and Flint. In 2014, Tracy became qualified in Funeral Directing by achieving an NAFD (National Association of Funeral Directors) Diploma.

In 2015, wanting to have more flexibility in the business management and operation, we formed our own company Busby & Kane Independent Funeral Directors Limited. In August 2015 we opened our premises in Buckley and became members of The National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) and Fair Funerals.

Since opening, we have been able to offer our services to many families in the Flintshire area - including Buckley, Mynydd Isa, Broughton, Hawarden, Penyffordd and Deeside and also Chester and Wrexham.

Busby & Kane Independent Funeral Directors is located in the heart of Buckley town centre at 6 Padeswood Road - the main entrance is situated in the public car park, behind Buckley Cross Methodist Church.

We opened our 2nd office in Shotton on 14th September 2019. The office was officially opened by Ockie's daughters Zoe Ellis and Karen Ellis-Cosstick. They gave us the most thoughtful gifts of some wonderful memorabilia honouring their dad, which we have displayed in the office.

We pride ourselves on providing a dignified, caring service personalised to individual requirements. We are committed to helping families through their most difficult time with support, advice and guidance 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
